I can no longer call myself a gypsy wanna be
I have lived too long in a single place
but it's time to move again
and I thought Gypsy would be a good theme to honor that.
By the time I was 18 I had lived in 20 different places
and 8 different states.

I saw a beautiful piece of art work today that was highly referenced from a photograph from a website that has an extremely shady reputation. It reminded me yet again how many "traditional" medium artist truly disregard the copyrights of Photographers over and over and over again. Photographs on such sites as photobucket, MSN Groups, MySpace (unless Official photographer, model, actesses page), goggles images, yahoo images etc are often stolen images or NOT Free for use. google is scanning websites and has not right to give permission for use as a reference of to be used in a manipulation or derivative work. That is true for the rest of those site.
So yet again I find myself telling ALL Artists if you don't want your art work stolen WHY are YOU Stealing Others Work???
It's simple ASK! If the answer is No Respect it! There are plenty of terrific models and photographers that offer both Free and yes Sometimes paid for Stock work to be used as references and stock for manips and Derivatives without stealing the work of someone that isn't!
Alas I know I talking to a wall since DA policies Allow such Outright Theft and turn a blind eye. But if you are going to sell your work and make a profit off someone elses work the least you can do is ASK!

It's sad when Artists creating ARTISTIC EXPRESSIONS must remind other said artists that Art is an Expression! That like religion and speech is a protected notion under our constitution in the US. Something that personally I think should be protected around the world.
What I find ridiculous is when a fellow artist seeks not to critique my artistic skills regarding photo-manipulation, painting, drawing with regards to color, lighting, composition, proportion but instead critiques my beliefs. Should I critique your religion, or lack of, your living style or marriage, your choice of hairstyles, clothing, car see the list can go on when we start attacking people personally when we critique art work based on beliefs as opposed to artistic skills.
I have read two excellent journals written this week by people I respect and care about talking also about acceptance of individual beliefs and choices. Mine is less well written but comes from being slammed not because the proportion was off on a piece of my work but because Oh My God had the nerve to create a FEMALE ANGEL!! WOW

Ok My BELIEF Since you WANT TO SLAM THEM is ANYONE can Evolve beyond who and what they are here. Be it angels, gods, spirits, whatever YOU want to call them. Why because yes I believe we all have souls and the soul is more powerful than the limited idea that only an asexual being never found on her can be that pure and good!!
But Guess what THAT IS MY BELIEF NOT Yours or his or hers or theirs mine and I Express MY Art the way I WANT TO!!
Go ahead Critique my skill but leave my character and my life and my beliefs out of it!!!
And I will not go critique with insults to yours or others religious beliefs cause believe you me I have heard them and could come up with some good ones to tick anyone in any religion off. Ya want to know why I do not critique peoples Art that way. Because it is THEIR Expression and like their beliefs theirs to express and believe and I have NO right to tell them not to!

For many today is about hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill.
For many others it is about remembering, Thank you, Missing, Crying and sometimes moving on. It's Memorial Day in the US today. A time to remember All Those that have past not just the veterans, not just family members but all those that have gone before. For each person that remembers on this day it is a unique memory or memories to them. For each person they think on those they want to remember but the day is truly for all of us that has lost someone. Though for me I rarely see them as lost merely elsewhere gone on their journey. That's why I chose this image. To me it speaks of a journey not an end.

In memory for all those that have taken the journey to somewhere else.
